Statement

I am a fine art photographer, primarily focused on documenting the people and places of New Mexico. I am also a painter, working in natural pigment watercolors, as well as acrylics, with adventures into mixed media and 3-D spaces. My work behind the lens engages a variety of themes, spanning the gamut from the spiritual to the secular and often ironic. I am New Mexico's premier photographer of historic churches, and have spent years seeking out and photographing these varied structures in every corner of the state. I also employ my camera to tell the stories of New Mexico's varied landscape, and its evolution under the influence of humans and time. More recently, I've begun to explore - in multiple media - the influence of humans on one another, especially in the context of the rights of women and the LGBTQAI+ community.

Bio

New Mexico is not only my lifelong home, but the home of my ancestors, spanning many generations. I grew up immersed in New Mexican culture, and could never imagine living anywhere else. I am a scientist by education, and an artist by practice. I enjoyed photography from childhood, but it took years - and graduating from college with a science degree - to become serious about it as an artist. Over the last twenty or so years since then, my photographic skills and artistic voice have evolved, and I've also expanded into painting and mixed media. My award-winning work has been featured in a variety of publications and venues. I live in Albuquerque, and maintain a studio at The Groove Artstpace in the downtown Albuquerque core.
