Margo Spellman

As a modern woman, my art highlights the strength and power of women. Our contributions to humanity are countless- We are the creators, the healers, the mystics, and, the intuitive leaders. While in the past, we may have donned masculine armor and attributes to survive and succeed, our true strength lies in the feminine. Our perceived softness in fact facilitates collaboration, mediation, self-awareness, empathy and peace. We listen to our inner voices; we tune into nature and think about future generations. My work reflects all of this. I am a seeker and survivor. With the help of therapists, healers, spirit guides, friends and family, I’ve mostly resolved personal and ancestral traumas and found my true voice and renewed purpose. Since contracting long Covid a few years ago, I’ve dealt with the unraveling of my brain. Logic and executive function left me raw and exposed. Through my healing journey, I’ve moved from abstraction to clarity. I am intent on creating authentic art that will help the next generation, as well as the women around me. Having fought for women’s rights since the early days of my professional career, I remain passionate about women’s issues, and I’m horrified by the threats to women around the world. Through my art, I explore these topics and share wisdom gleaned over a lifetime with the hope it resonates with others and creates change.

Born and raised in Seattle, Margo Spellman is an abstract artist and entrepreneur based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Rooted in the pioneer tradition of the Northwest and the story-telling culture of Irish ancestors who built railroads, re-plumbed a city and led a state, Spellman has been painting for many years in her spare time as a way to excavate the truth of her history. Now a part-time monthly lifestyle magazine editor, Spellman works daily in her studio on new works. Formerly a marketing and communications executive and consultant, Spellman gained expertise in global transportation issues, the arts and small business. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s in public administration from the University of Washington. Spellman’s work is found in several private collections in the Northwest. Back in the day, she showed her art in Seattle, Eastern Washington, Manhattan and Colorado in group shows and neighborhood art events.
