Lisa Marie Kindley

Artist Statement: Inspired by the beauty of nature, the charm of the past, the poetry of frescoes and fairytales...I create painted tapestries with acrylics, glazes, pastels and dry pigments on unstretched canvas. In the studio, dreaming of timeless gardens, trees, flowers, and peaceful woodlands, I draw from memory and imagination. I think of my paintings as poems, capturing moods, and feelings about nature, that are too magical to be portrayed literally...they simply offer gentle invitations into a realm of serenity and enchantment.

Artist Bio: Lisa Marie Kindley grew up in the beautiful Oregon countryside, surrounded by art and nature. She studied illustration at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, and, later, in Northern California, beginning in the year 2000, found a career as a muralist and decorative painter. She worked for interior designers and homeowners, creating large murals, custom paintings, and artistic finishes for walls and furniture. In 2010, she began exploring her own "modern romantic" imagery, in the form of painted tapestries, which she sold at art fairs and galleries. Working mostly large-scale, on unstretched canvas, she created them to evoke the timeless beauty of ancient European frescoes. Moving to Northern New Mexico in 2020, Lisa Marie has discovered fresh inspiration, as the changing seasons, the hues of the natural landscape, and the flora and fauna of the region, all begin to influence her painting in subtle and delicate ways.
