I love the medium of fiber and enjoy the long, slow building up of a form from knotting small threads and yarn. It's very meditative for me. I enjoy creating as I go, combining textures and colors as I proceed. Seeds, stones, seedpods, and other items in nature inspire me. I'd like people to slow down and approach my work by noticing the details. I want to invite the viewer in for closer observation and discovery. That’s the nature of small work, come close and investigate.

I am an artist living in Santa Fe. I grew up near Lake Michigan and have lived and taught in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My primary art medium is knotted thread, yarn, and beads. Creating these vessels is a very long, slow, process. Each piece takes several months to complete. Textiles really became my passion while at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, where the fiber professor, Ruth Gao made a lasting impact, inviting visiting artists Lia Cook, John McQueen, Diane Itter and Elizabeth Tuttle. I am inspired by textiles from all over the world; especially the native dress, color palette and needle work from Laos which made a formative impression on me while teaching English Language Learners. I have been creating my pieces since the late 1970’s. I've entered numerous shows and some pieces have been in various magazines.
