Statement

My paintings explore the meeting of land, water and sky, the effect of light, and the dynamics of forms in space. I follow where the painting leads, conveying the contemplative stillness and expansive inspiration inherent in nature.

Bio

Laura Ellis moved to New Mexico in 1990 after living in Minnesota and New England, each summer returning to an island in Maine. Her undergraduate studies included a year in London concentrating on ceramics and art history. She received a graduate degree in nursing and for many years provided healthcare as a nurse practitioner. Upon retiring from clinical practice Laura pursued her love of drawing and painting. Her work is represented by G2 Gallery Santa Fe and The Gallery at Somes Sound on Mt. Desert Island, Maine, and is held in collections across the United States and abroad.
