Statement

My work with handmade paper and dimensionality offers moments suspended in time, where imagination, discovery, and the quiet exploration of materials seamlessly expand into tangible form. Observing negative space feels like a gentle breath of fresh air for the mind, encouraging a release of control and an attentive listening to what quietly wishes to emerge. The sight of an unspoken word, the elusive space between us and them, or the tender image of preened mating doves on a branch — all gently remind me that time is ever fleeting. This awareness reinforces how art and life are intricately interwoven into the very fabric of the creative process. When beginning a new sculpture, my process always begins with making paper by hand with kozo fiber. Weaving with water, fiber and screen my imagination opens to new beginnings. I’m a member of Surface Design Association, Fiber Art Now, IAPMA and the New Mexico Women in the Arts.

Bio

My journey with paper and sculpture has ranged widely, encompassing everything from delicate light fixtures to commanding stone carvings and ethereal mixed-media sculptures. The guiding concept of merging art and life continually shapes my relationship with materials, compelling me to engage deeply with whatever captures my imagination. My work strives to translate the inspiration that arises from living in close harmony with wild landscapes, weaving together themes of the ethereal journey, motherhood, vacancy, loss, renewal, and the ways emotional responses can evoke an understated profound beauty.
