Statement

My work is a conversation in color inspired by the intricacies of nature and personal moments in life. My art is an exploration of process, color, rhythm, and textures. In my practice, I metaphorically use the body within spaces with environmental and portraiture. Using a figure creates stronger emotions within the image. When no figure is present, I create layers and incorporate symbols that connect to my paintings and sculptures. Together, the images convey the story I want to share. While creating my art, I intend to suggest a story, not only of the moment but also of an entire life. Not only what we can see but what is invisible to the eyes.

Bio

Artist Annie Marini - Genzon is an accomplished artist working in various visual disciplines; she is known for her lively abstract and figurative paintings and captivating sculptures. Recognized for her dynamic compositions and color sensibility, Ana explores a rich visual vocabulary of boldness and subtlety; she creates works through labor-intensive processes that can be seen explicitly as a personal search in life by applying metaphorical language. By referencing metaphors and symbolism, she creates intense emotional moments conceived by rules and omissions, acceptance, and refusal, luring the viewer into their significance. Time and memory always play a key role. Annie works and resides between Los Angeles, California, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
