Statement

Illumination and emotion are the ultimate guides for my photo opportunities. From reflections to ancient structures, landscapes to street art, flowers to shadows, I am drawn by the smallest detail and the grandest vistas when the light and my heart lead the way. As a native New Mexican with many generations of New Mexican ancestors to draw upon, I am drawn to scenes that tell a story of those who came before, those who will follow, and the surroundings that connect them. My hope is that my photographs will draw you in and enchant you as well.

Bio

With a deep, multi-generational family connection to New Mexico, Janet spends every free moment she has trekking around the state discovering hidden gems and capturing them through her photography. In recent years, her exploration has taken her to various locations around the globe with amazing opportunities to explore and capture beautiful and historic international locations through her lens. Janet began public display of her photos in 2014 and was invited to participate in the UK Black and White Print Exchange Group in 2016. In September 2018, Janet was one of a select group of artists who had the opportunity to participate in Artists Days at the Rail Yards to document Albuquerque’s historic complex before renovations began. Her work, "Rail Yards Reflection," was selected for purchase by the City of Albuquerque and is on display in City Hall. Janet was voted the photography category winner at the New Mexico Artisan Market inaugural event as well as the category winner in the 2019 and 2024 Contemporary Hispanic Market in Santa Fe. Her work is New Mexico True Certified. You can see more of Janet’s work at the Albuquerque Rail Yards Market, various Sundays, May – October. She is a juried artist for the Santa Fe Contemporary Hispanic Market the last weekend in July as well as the New Mexico Artisan Market, Thanksgiving weekend at the Hotel Albuquerque. Her work is also featured at the WHEELS Museum at the Albuquerque Rail Yards.
