Statement

Christine Sullivan’s practice centers on two and three-dimensional textile works, alongside painting, screen printing, and assemblage. She invites viewers to consider the interconnectedness of all beings while critically examining how systems of power shape collective thought and behavior. Sullivan consistently reduces ideas and objects to their essential components. While her work may evoke minimalism, formalism, or contemporary traditions, she resists confinement. Instead, she challenges artistic conventions with unusual materials—razor wire, rubber, nails, etc—and inventing new techniques. She works with a playful, experimental sensibility to create thought-provoking works.

Bio

Christine Sullivan is a multimedia artist living in Santa Fe. She studied Studio Art at State University of New York at Albany and Art Students League of NY. She taught portfolio design at City College, NY. Her design practice, cstudiodesign.com (no longer in operation) worked with arts organizations and included Museum of Indian Arts + Culture, and Guggenheim Museum. Since moving to NM in 2019, Sullivan’s work has been featured on a SITE Santa Fe billboard; received a City of Santa Fe micro-grant for community art project, “Felt During COVID” and exhibited public art works within the Santa Fe Railyard and a city billboard in Albuquerque. She was a selected artist in the 2025 Harwood Art Center’s, SURFACE: Emerging Artists of New Mexico and is represented by Aurelia Gallery in Santa Fe.
