Patricia Marin Miranda

Patricia Marin Miranda was born and raised in San José, Costa Rica, where her lifelong love of feathers and flight began. As a child, she once watched a person painting on a tiny feather on a sidewalk—a moment that etched itself into her memory and inspired her creative journey. Fascinated by birds—their freedom, grace, and song Patricia has always seen feathers as more than natural objects. They represent beauty, strength, and a connection to something beyond the ordinary. “Feathers are like women—delicate, beautiful, and fragile, yet unshakably strong—like a rock!” In 2020, she found a tiny studio in Santa Fe that became her sanctuary and creative space—a place where her vision took flight. With no formal art training, Patricia taught herself to paint and, over time, developed a signature technique for assembling and painting on feathers. “Without feathers, my paintings are empty, lifeless and motionless. Feathers are what make my imagination soar! Art in flight!” Today, her feather paintings are celebrated by collectors for their intricacy, originality, and spirit. Each piece is a tribute to nature, transformation, and the enduring power of artistic freedom.

Patricia Marin Miranda grew up in Costa Rica, immigrated to the U.S. in 2005 with her five children and moved to Santa Fe in 2019 where she has a small studio gallery in the historic art district of Canyon Road. As a young girl, she remembers artists painting on single feathers. She fell in love with this art form. Patricia has developed a unique technique of assembling large wild bird feathers into a paintable medium. She uses acrylics to paint directly on the feathers. Each 100% natural feather is carefully selected and then assembled together to make a “canvas” that is studied for its texture, feather vane lines and contours that are then used as a natural part of the painted image flowing and mixing with the paint from Patricia’s brush. The final fine art image is then put onto a mat board or integrated onto a larger scene on painted canvas panel or board and sealed under glass in an airtight box inside museum quality framing.
