Statement

I am an egg tempera painter, painting small images no larger than 8" x 10". There are portraits of humans who I care about, and commissioned work of mostly dog portraits. Sometimes I address whimsy with my portraits of toys and animal headed people. My husband and I own a store where he sells vintage tools for makers. I sometimes will do portraits of these beautiful objects.

Bio

Born in Miami Florida. Went to the first liberal arts High Schools in the county, studying art and music. Community college where I studied ceramics. BFA in painting and MFA in ceramic sculpture at San Francisco Art Institute. From there I moved to NYC where I was a textile designer, painting gouache on paper (pre- photoshop). I also received a NYFA grant for my installation sculptures that I was building at the time. Designed bronzes in India for a factory that made items for the Western Market. Moved to New Mexico 2003, where I taught myself egg tempera. I have been working exclusively in this medium for the last 20 years. My husband and I own a little shop Gray Matter - art + tools + oddities, where we sell tools for makers, and I display my paintings.
